From Rosella,
BEAUTIFUL flying weather these days and I am here for it!
Just doing safety pilot thangs with @drewsturg this am!
Todays Route: KCXP KLOL KCXP
From Vice Chairman Stacie:
I flew to Yerington today to get cheap avgas (2.99!) and for their pancake breakfast! The best part was taking my good friend Laura! Afterwards we played in the sky. She let me practice teaching maneuvers. What a great day!
RHS 99 Tina went to Truckee today!
Every year the local chapter for Women in Aviation hosts their popular “Girls in Aviation” Day. Members of the aviation community gather to put on a spectacular and one of a kind introduction to aviation event, and a number of Reno High Sierra 99s volunteered! (Not all are pictured) Congrats to WAI on another successful presentation!
For some, September and October bring thoughts of fallen leaves, pumpkins, and Halloween. Here at RHS, it means Scholarship season is almost upon us! Check back regularly as we’ll be posting our scholarships soon!!!
Last weekend was full of aviation! First the Great Reno Balloon Race! RHS Member Karalyn flew Citrus in the Sky and the American Flag for the event on Sunday.
Also one of our Scholarship recipients was out working on her Ballooning skills!
Last but not least, the Carson City Open Airport event! Check out RHS member Laura at our booth! Thank you to everyone who volunteered!!
From RHS 99 Tina:
Bright and early flight this morning! Early birdie gets the smoothest air!
Got to see the fire planes too. They were pretty cool!
From RHS former Chairman Leah,
I haven’t flown since June but I’ve been able to do engine runs in the company’s Meridian every month while it awaits repairs. I’ll take what I can get 😂
From our Social Director -
(White) capping off the summer with some cooler temps
RHS members Stacie and Melissa took to the skies this morning to get some air time!!
While we were somewhat conflicted on who to root for (our home team or the Aviators) we nonetheless had a fantastic time at the Reno Ball Park! (The Aviators won) Thanks to RHS Social Director Tara for setting this up, and to everyone who attended!
Sometimes the best way to conduct business is to have a party and break bread together, and that’s exactly what we did for our monthly business meeting! Thanks to everyone who came in person AND online!
Check out the group that met up for a photo! Can you name them all??
If you’re Facebook friends with her, you know Rosella’s page is full of posts featuring the beautiful brides she works with. When she’s not making brides glamourous for their big day, or working her day job as a flight attendant, she’s doing a little flying of her own.
From Rosella: Don’t let all my hair and makeup posts fool you — yo girl’s still piloting!
Many of our members are traveling to the Mecca Event of Aviation, Oshkosh!
If you’re there, be on the looking for other RHS99s, and send your photos and posts to your friendly webmistresses!
From our Vice Chair, Stacie: Leaving on a jet plane… don’t know when I’ll be back again! #Oshkosh2024!
Check out this super cool article discussing bird strikes and how a few ladies in Washington, DC are minimizing bird strikes by identifying birds who collide with airplanes.
Did you know bird strikes cost upwards of $650,000,000 a year??? Yeah, me neither!
Tina recently flew down to Minden for coffee. Can you think of a better way to get caffeine? No? Me neither.
What better way to spend a weekend morning than by flying to breakfast? A group of folks flew up to have breakfast at Patti’s Morning Thunder Cafe in Quincy. Heather, Dani, and Dani’s husband were among them! Two thumbs up for breakfast in Quincy!
